Chevening
The British High Commission is offering a small number of Chevening Scholarships to outstanding Malawians for postgraduate study in the UK during the academic year 2009/10.
Candidates MUST fulfil the following requirements:
Be able to demonstrate clearly how he/she would be able better to contribute to Malawi’s social, economic and development interests as a result of a scholarship.
Be committed to returning to Malawi after completion of his/her studies.
Be a holder of University degree (pass with a distinction preferable, but no less than a pass with credit).
Be a dynamic professional, in either the public or private sector, between the ages of 25 and –35 years.
Be able to demonstrate the motivation necessary to become a future leader in his/ her chosen profession or field of study.
The High Commission is particularly keen to receive applications from Malawians wishing to undertake studies, which will equip them to work for Malawi’s economic development, by promoting economic growth or developing the private sector.
Application forms can be obtained in person from the British High Commission, Tel: 265 1 772 400 and the British Council, Tel: 265 1 773 244. Both premises are City Centre, Lilongwe or forms can be downloaded.
Applications should be submitted to the British Council, P.O. Box 30222, Lilongwe 3 no later than Friday 19 December 2008. Applications should be clearly marked ‘Chevening’. Those candidates who pass the application stage will be called for an interview. Applicants not contacted for interview should assume their application has not been successful.
